| X Trail Day 2 Straight Jump and wrap up. |
| How this did not make finals is just amazing! And Mr. Autti rode like he was on a mission. He started with a cab 9 Japan grab (for the fans), fs 1080 tail, bs 720 mute, and tried a fs 1260 but fell and got banged up pretty good scratching his face. The Japanese first aid crews came running to his aid and pretty much broke his binding. He was able to get up and continue riding, but only after a frantic run to the back to replace his strap. He said later “The first aid guys were ripping off my bindings trying to help, but it didn’t help when I had to go in the back and get another. It totally messed up my rhythm and I couldn’t get it back.” So with just a few minutes left in the semi’s Antti sprinted up for another couple attempts. He continued with his “bag of tricks” switch bs 7 nose, bs 360 method with a late shifty, fs 9 melon, and then he tried a cab 1080 nose which ended his night with a dramatic fall which tweaked his ankle pretty good. You could see the frustration in his eyes and he went and sat down and watched the final tricks. The X Trail in the Tokyo dome is a true example of determination, athleticism, heart and courage. The semi final is a tough and strenuous 30 minutes. You basically have only 30 minutes to get in as many runs as you can. Walking some 300 steps back to the top and going as though you can’t stop. Danny Kass thought so as well when the contest was over he said, “I felt like I was going to throw up when I was strapping in.” In the end it was Rice (1st), Crepel (2nd) and White (3rd) who battled for top honors in the straight jump competition. Antti Autti’s 2nd place in QP and his 5th place in straight jump gave him an overall 4th finish for TTR points bumping him into 6th in TTR points race. Risto Mattila finished in 4th place in straight jump and combined with his 3rd place from the Quarter pipe he was overall third place for his TTR points. Moving him into the 2nd place TTR points race, just behind his fellow team mate Scotty Lago who currently is still 1st. For more info Visit www.ttrworldtour.com |
